Carrot Inge-glas Ornament
Farmer's Market
The first tree we decorate in our shop each year is typically
our fruit and vegetable tree as we don't want to push Christmas
but recognize that this is a "bountiful tree"...a "Kitchen tree"
and just delightful.
We've been without a carrot ornament for a few years now so we're
happy to see this design re-introduced as the carrot is a treasured
addition to a brides first Christmas tree, the carrot ornament was
believed to bring the bride good luck in the kitchen. Holding a
special place in German legend, the carrot ornament can truly
bring a tear to an old woman's eye.
Birgit Müller-Blech, designer for Inge-Glas® of Germany,

Silent Night Chapel Inge-glas Ornament
FaithHouses and Churches have always been a part of the Inge-
glas ornament line, but none quite as famous as this small
chapel where in 1816, the world's most beloved Christmas
song, "Stille Nacht" or "Silent Night" was written by Father
Joseph Mohr. Franz Gruber, Mohr's friend, composed the
music.
"Stille Nacht" was sung in German for the very first time on
Christmas Eve in 1818 in the St. Nikolaus Church, Oberndorf
near Salzburg, Austria. The organ was broken, so the song
was accompanied by guitar. In 1907, St. Nikolaus Church was
damaged in a flood and torn down.
